What to look for in a coat for UK weather

• A water-resistant shell. Drizzle and sleet soak into an unprotected coat and make it feel colder. Both ELORA shells are water-resistant for light rain and snow. For heavy, sustained rain, carry an umbrella: they are not waterproof rainwear.
• Fleece close to the body. Both parkas have soft fleece through the upper body and hood, which feels warm the moment you put the coat on.
• A proper hood. Both hoods are removable, with detachable faux-fur trim, so you can wear the coat with or without it.
• Cuffs that stop the wind. Rib-knit inner cuffs with thumbholes keep wind and rain from running up your sleeves.
• Length. Both coats are mid-length, about 90–100 cm (36–40 in) depending on size, so they cover your hips on cold platforms and school runs.

Getting the right fit for winter layers

Measure your bust, waist and hips over light clothing and compare them with the size chart on the product page. Room for insulation and a jumper underneath is already built in. If you’re between sizes, choose the larger size. Both parkas come in true plus sizes up to 3X.

Tips for damp, windy days

• Put the hood up before the rain starts. A dry layer stays warmer than a wet one.
• Use the thumbholes to keep your wrists covered between glove and cuff.
• Open the two-way zipper from the bottom when you sit on the bus or drive.
• Hang your coat to dry at room temperature. Do not tumble dry; follow the care instructions on the product page.
