How to Choose a Long Puffer Coat: ELORA & u2wear Compared

A long puffer coat adds coverage below the hips, but “maxi,” “full-length” and “ankle-length” do not tell you exactly where the hem will fall on your body. Start with the coat length in your size, then consider the zipper, hood and lining you prefer.

This guide compares three ELORA and u2wear winter coats: the u2wear Ankle-Length Maxi Shield, the ELORA Technical Maxi Puffer and the ELORA Thermal Maxi Puffer. Each uses synthetic vegan insulation. Their lengths and features differ.

For full-length coverage with a two-way zipper

Black u2wear full-length puffer coat with grey contrast detailing

The u2wear Ankle-Length Maxi Shield combines a long silhouette with a two-way metal zipper. Opening the lower slider gives you more room when sitting or walking. Its removable hood and grey contrast trim distinguish it from the ELORA designs.

Choose this style if a two-way zipper is important to you. Check the approved size guide on the product page for the garment length in your size; ankle coverage depends on your height and proportions.

Navy ELORA Technical Maxi Puffer with a long quilted silhouette

The ELORA Technical Maxi Puffer has a one-way metal zipper, a detachable hood without fur trim, fleece in the upper body and hood, and knit inner cuffs with thumbholes. It is an option for shoppers who want long coverage and these specific comfort features.

Size and colour availability are limited on this style. Check the available combination on the product page before choosing.

For a shorter maxi alternative

Grey ELORA Thermal Maxi Puffer with hood

The ELORA Thermal Maxi Puffer provides a shorter alternative to our two full-length designs. It has a one-way metal zipper, fleece-lined comfort details and thumbhole cuffs. Compare the approved garment lengths rather than relying on “maxi” alone when deciding which coverage suits you.

How to choose your size and coat length

  1. Measure your body. Take bust, waist and hip measurements over light underclothes, without sweaters or other layers. These are body measurements, not measurements of another coat.
  2. Use the chart for the specific style. Match your measurements to the approved size guide on that product page. Do not add extra inches. If your measurements fall in different rows, or you are between sizes, choose the larger size as the chart directs.
  3. Check garment length separately. Coat length is measured from the high shoulder point to the hem. Use that length to judge your preferred coverage. Sleeve length is measured from the shoulder seam to the cuff.

Our product charts use approximate whole-inch and whole-centimetre measurements. Use the values shown for your chosen style and size.

Common questions about long puffer coats

Is an ankle-length coat the same as a floor-length coat?

No. These terms describe different amounts of coverage, and where any coat falls also depends on your height and proportions. A full-length coat does not guarantee a floor-length fit. Use the garment length in the product’s approved size chart.

Are these coats filled with animal down?

These three styles use synthetic vegan insulation rather than animal down.

Are they waterproof raincoats?

They have water-resistant shells for winter wear. They are not fully waterproof raincoats for prolonged heavy rain.

How should I wash them?

Machine wash cold and hang to dry. Do not tumble dry. Follow the care label supplied with your coat.
